My guest post on Journalism 2.0

January 9, 2010 by: Rick Martin

journalism-20Just a quick note to point out a recent project I’ve been experimenting with. Some of you might have seen me tweeting some nonsense about programming a feed generator tool recently. Mark Briggs must have lost a bet or something, because he let me write about it over on his site, Journalism20.com.

Essentially this tool takes RSS feed link structures for common web services and performs a simple string replacement to create many useful feeds that correspond to the word you input in the text field. I hope to implement this somehow in my TokyoSocial project to help people monitor new information about the corner of Tokyo they live in.

If you’d like to try it out for yourself, you can do so here: http://1rick.com/feedme/index.html. I’ve also whipped up a screencast showing how I use this tool to search feeds within netvibes.
